Five Inexpensive Yet Romantic New Years Eve Ideas
Are you still pinching the pennies from all your Christmas spending and now you’re struggling with what to do for New Years? You don’t have to empty your wallet in order to have a fun and romantic time this December 31st. Keep the cost low while making sure that romantic factor is at an all-time high with our affordable New Year’s Eve ideas.
1. Get the fancy meal going at home. You could get on a waiting list for a higher-than-normal priced meal at your local fancy restaurant, or you could try it all at home. Don’t put the pressure just on yourself to get it all done, though. Sharing the cooking experience can be as fun and romantic as the dinner itself. You don’t have to go all crazy with filet mignon or an overly complex dessert. Sometimes a simple plate of spaghetti and meatballs is the best!2. Head out to your favorite hole-in-the-wall. If cooking in for the night doesn’t seem like your cup of tea, head out to your favorite diner for some down home cooking. These places are usually a lot quieter than the highbrow fancy restaurants, and don’t increase their prices just for the night. You’ll also not be limited by the ‘set menu’ that many pricey places put out for the evening.
3. Have friends over for a potluck. Like the idea of staying in, but still want to celebrate New Year’s Eve with your friends? Rather than running yourself ragged sorting out a multi-course dinner, have a pot luck meal where each friend brings a course. This way you’re only worried about your dish (and the clean up afterward). Just be sure that your guests know which course they are in charge of. While five different desserts may be an amazing way to spend a meal – it might not be what you’ve got in mind!
4. Break out the board games. Not all New Year’s Eve festivities have to revolve around food. Now – hear us out. I know that a game of checkers or chess might not seem the most romantic thing around. Get creative! There are “adult” games like Fifty Ways to Tease Your Lover game, or the Foreplay In A Row game that will break that boring night in into something much more sexy!
5. Make your own movie festival. For many couples, New Year’s Eve is dinner and a movie. With so many ways to get videos into your home these days, why not stay in for the night and line up your favorite multi-movie collection and have yourself a marathon? It’s also a great way to catch up on backstories for movies that you may see live in the theater during its winter release. Cuddle up with some popcorn and enjoy the evening!
